Things to be initiated from your end:
· Align the MDM vision and strategy with the organization's strategic vision by clarifying what, why and how trusted master data contributes to business or mission value.
· Measure progress toward business goals by creating clear MDM program metrics, setting a baseline and linking these metrics to business benefit and data value metrics;
· Ensure accurate master data by creating a formal governance program that identifies and assigns the appropriate business owner of each data field; specifies the frequency that each data field needs to be reviewed; trains business owners on the global data definitions for the data fields they own; trains business owners on the create, change, extension and extinction procedures and ensures these procedures are used accordingly; holds business owners explicitly responsible and accountable for reviewing the master data on the specified frequency to ensure it is correct and in accordance with the global standard data definitions;
· Change / streamline the master data and business organization structures and roles as needed to effectively steward and leverage trusted master data across new and improved business processes;
· Develop standardized roles, responsibilities and standard user profiles. Work with IT to develop and implement data security processes and procedures.
· Serve as lead authority on Data Governance for the Material Master, Vendor and Customer fields in SAP as well as for additional master data in SAP and other systems in the future;
· Identify and assign the appropriate business owner of each data field and specify the frequency at which each data field should be reviewed.
· Train business owners on the global data definitions for the data fields they own;
· Hold business owners explicitly responsible and accountable for reviewing the master data within the specified frequency to ensure it is correct and in accordance with the global standard data definitions;
· Train business owners on the create, change, extension and extinction procedures and ensure these procedures are used correctly;
· Develop and implement the use of global standard automated workflows to regulate the change, creation, extension and extinction process so that only approved and accurate data is uploaded, approved and maintained by the appropriate business owners;
· Develop and implement a periodic review of all master data, vendor data and customer data to ensure data is current and accurate across functions and divisions as well as provide metrics to ensure the reviews are completed;
· Provide work direction and guidance to direct reports and divisional resources to assure completion of assigned tasks and other duties;
· Responsible for policy and procedure development reviews / improvements and facilitating procedure updates with process owners;
· Assure that all company personnel are adequately trained in the principals, policies, and procedures of the configuration management system;
· Support Business Projects including integrations, SAP roll outs, etc.;
· Interact with and manage virtual/global team members;
· Drive process improvement;
· Engage and educate business owners;
· Provide operations with timely service;
· Promote Quality Incident Free mind-set;
· Focus on process excellence and data quality
