Security Infrastructure Operations Specialist

Accountability Objective
Under general supervision, the individual will serve as a member of the IT Security Technologies team. Duties include: 2nd & 3rd level operational support of network and security systems; provide technical engineering services for the support of integrated network and security systems; translate security and business requirements into technical designs; improve the security posture of client IT Systems.


  • CCNA, SANS GSEC or CISSP security certifications preferred
  • 2+ years professional work experience administering security and network infrastructure preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp security concepts and demonstrated knowledge of security management practices, security architecture, security operations, and security modeling
  • Knowledge of telecommunications, network and Internet security access control systems and methodology
Hands-on experience with all or some of the following:
  • Operating system technologies (UNIX, Linux, Windows Server 2008/2012)
  • Firewalls, VPN, Web Proxy
  • Intrusion Prevention Systems/Intrusion Detection Systems (IPS/IDS)
  • Antivirus/Antimalware
  • Certificate Authority
  • Authentication Systems (Client, RADIUS, RSA)
  • Network Protocols (TCP/IP, MPLS)
  • Network Routing (IGRP, OSPF, BGP)
  • Evaluating security products and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to define and solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within groups
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Proven skill in both written and oral communications
  • Proven commitment to providing quality service and deliverables to clients in a timely manner
  • Experience managing projects with interdisciplinary teams strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated research and analysis skills

Principal Accountabilities
  • Management and administration of access control, network segmentation, and security products
  • Analyze historical security logs to identify potential threats and operational issues to the security of the Client
  • Design and implement security and network technology to protect against security vulnerabilities and threats
  • Analyze client requests for security system modifications to ensure their compliance with security policy and identify any potential threat to security of the client data network.
  • Design and implement appropriate changes to IT security and network products to accommodate those client requests
  • Consult with other IT teams to provide technical security expertise needed to ensure a fully secured implementation of new or modified systems
  • Design, implement, and continually update the latest configurations for the wide array of IT security products used in the client data network. Examples are: Firewalls, VPN systems, web proxy servers, intrusion prevention systems, anti-virus and anti-malware, certificates, and authentication systems
  • Work with Cyber Security team to implement security policies
  • Assess and improve security posture for IT Systems
  • Provide technical engineering services for the support of integrated security and network systems
  • Participate in troubleshooting operational issues with client systems
  • Be on call as part of a rotation to support off-hours operational and security issues with client network and security systems
