As the Manager, Business Continuity Inventory, you will support our mission by joining a global team with responsibilities for assessing and recommending appropriate inventory targets to ensure uninterrupted supply of our medicines to the patients we serve. Going beyond a traditional statistical model, you will develop and enhance methods to determine appropriate inventory levels to mitigate different business continuity risks for our priority brands and markets. You will then work with our supply chain professionals to apply these methods to the unique supply networks for each brand
Develop and maintain approaches to determine end-to-end safety stock targets for priority brands and markets to mitigate business continuity risks associated with low probability, high impact events. Your assessment will consider customer service level strategies, business continuity risks, site recovery plans, relevant supply chain assumptions, physical supply chain flows, normal demand and supply variability, alternative demand cases and other brand level strategies.
Define business continuity inventory targets for each level of a brand's supply chain, including for critical raw materials, drug substance, API, drug products and finished goods. Using the approaches defined above, periodically executing a refresh of business continuity inventory targets across the supply chain, including both internal and external (CMOs) production locations.
Perform analyses to appropriately balance the cost of safety stock recommendations against the probability of business continuity risks and conducting sensitivity analyses around critical assumptions.
Partner with supply chain planners, strategic product leads, site supply chain leads, supply network planners, external manufacturing supply chain leads, business continuity professionals, finance and other stakeholders to understand and agree on assumptions impacting final recommendations.
Drive consensus on assumptions and safety stock recommendations across leadership by concisely and clearly communicating the analysis and fact-based judgments, how recommendations were derived, why those recommendations are reasonable in the context of the brand supply chain, and changes in assumptions affecting year over year movement in safety stocks.
Convert approved business continuity inventory targets into safety stocks by material code and location.
Coordinate updates in planning systems across the network. Monitoring and reporting discrepancies between the master data in our planning systems and approved targets.
Partner with Inventory Budget and Reporting Manager to ensure new safety stock objectives are incorporated in the budget. In partnership with process stewards, improving the process, roles and responsibilities and controls for managing and refreshing business continuity safety stocks.
Assist with change management to align stakeholders to process and responsibility changes.
Identifying opportunities for optimizing this inventory, based on the assessment of business continuity safety stocks.
Partner with appropriate stakeholders to determine the business case and implement changes to realize benefits. Together with Product Data Management, implementing appropriate processes and metrics to ensure data quality and timeliness regarding the inputs for calculating safety stocks. Responding to inquiries and ad hoc requests from team members, supply planning teams and other supply chain stakeholders for assistance in executing other inventory management processes or analyses.
Professional Experience and Qualifications:
B.S. degree or equivalent, preferably in supply chain management. An M.B.A. with a focus in supply chain management is preferred. 5+ years supply and inventory planning experience for a global pharmaceutical, biotechnology or consumer company utilizing world class planning and execution processes and systems. Strong and demonstrated understanding of the end to end supply chain, supply risks at each level of the supply chain in a biopharma environment, and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
Advanced Excel skills along with the ability to effectively use MS Word and MS PowerPoint. Ability to communicate complex concepts and recommendations in a clear and understandable way to leadership. An ability to cultivate and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with both team members and colleagues across the corporate enterprise based on credibility, respect, and meeting commitments. Experience where critical thinking and problem solving skills were critical to success. Demonstrated an understanding of the different types of inventory and the drivers of each. A proven self-starter able to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic, cross-functional team based environment. Prior evidence working in a matrixed organization.
