Client is currently recruiting for several Supplier Development Engineer located in the North East Region. This position is responsible for creating a performance based culture that delivers incremental improvement in key supply base metrics (noted in dimensions section).
The qualified candidate will use their knowledge of quality systems, advanced product and quality planning (APQP), supplier management, program management, continuous improvement tools, and commodity manufacturing processes to manage the key SDE workstreams: High Risk Supplier APQP, Focus Supplier, Supplier Continuous Improvement/Cost-Out, and Supplier Risk Management.
This position will be responsible for developing individual team member leadership competencies and driving functional excellence in the management and launch of high risk supplier components, leading supplier continuous improvement activities to reduce cost and improve capability, and supporting supplier risk management activities such as focused systemic improvements at chronic supplier sites. They will also assure proper training and utilization of all Global SDE tools and procedures within the region.
The specific functions of this position include the following:
A. Supports the development and deployment of Global SDE tools and processes to enable improvement in both Quality and Delivery performance, and enhance overall supplier capabilities to meet future business needs.
B. Builds organizational capability globally by developing commodity/process expertise to support effective supplier selection, management, continuous improvement and problem solving.
C. Works cross-functionally with SCM, Engineering, and Operations to ensure supplier sourcing, launch and on-going performance meet defined targets and overall business needs.
D. Manages SDE activities on all major Aerospace NPD programs involving suppliers.
E. Monitors overall supplier performance metrics (DPPM, DMR, OTD, PRR etc) and addresses performance gaps by driving defined strategies in accordance with the Focus Supplier Process or other short term recovery plans.
F. Assures proper alignment of continuous improvement activities with the SCM team at group and with the plants.
G. Conducts Business/Quality and Technical assessments, in support of new sourcing, to determine if a supplier s business operating system and technical competency meet Client s expectations.
H. Drives process for systemic improvements at chronic (Focus) supplier sites, through the use of quality tools (SPC, Lean, Six Sigma) and validates improvements through defined KPIs to reduce quality non-conformances, and delivery disruption.
" Bachelor s degree in a related engineering or supply chain management field
" Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, supply chain or operations
" 3 5 years experience in using quality tools/methodologies (PPAP, APQP, QSA, SPC, auditing)
" Knowledge of Industry specific quality registrations (ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP)
" Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt
" Lead auditor qualification
" Lean training and hands on experience is desirable
" MBA is a plus Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the company
